About Us

Our Mission

As a healthcare provider, I understand that our system is not set up to effectively treat many people as a complete person. The focus is on profits, not quality of care or quality of life. At Personal Wellness Physical Therapy, my mission is to find clients who believe that they are forced to live with their pain, their scars, their bladder leaking, and their swelling forever, and change that narrative into a positive one. Physical Therapy is proven to reduce pain, reduce scar adhesion, and improve function. If you, or someone you love has fought like hell to survive, please allow me to fight to make that life more comfortable and more fulfilling.

Meet Your Therapist

Dr. Katie Balgeman PT, DPT, CLT is a licensed physical therapist based out of Phoenix area. She received her Bachelor's of Science from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from A. T. Still University in Mesa, AZ.

She has had an interest in treating women's Health and pelvic floor conditions since her undergraduate studies, but her passion developed as she was finishing her doctorate degree. She has taken several continuing education courses related to pelvic floor treatment and exclusively treated these conditions since 2015. She began learning about lymphedema and the benefits of lymphatic massage during clinical rotations and received her Certified Lymphedema Certification through the Klose Training program. She is also trained in oncological rehabilitation through the Physiological Oncological Rehabilitation Institute to help manage the chronic conditions caused by cancer treatments including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. She continues to grow her clinical skills with training in dry needling and John F. Barnes Myofascial Release techniques which offer profound relief to many types of pain, injury, and dysfunction

As she began treating cancer survivors, she realized this population is frequently left to deal with pain and scars as something that is a result of cancer treatments, but this is not true. She has a passion for helping those who have pain, bowel, bladder, sexual, and adhesion dysfunctions from cancer treatments because no one should have to live with that.

She grew up in Colorado Springs, but after grad school in Mesa...is done with snowy winters forever! Ahwatukee is her new home and she loves the desert landscape and even the heat. She spends time with her movie-loving husband and new baby and is so excited to help this community!
